Chapter 3
Said by Nick:
"There was music from my neighbor's house through the summer nights" (43).
The significance of this quote is that at Jay Gatsby's parties you are always assured a great time.
Said by Jordan:
"This is much too polite for me" (49).
The significance of this quote is to show Jordan's awareness on how fake people were acting.
Said by Lucille:
"...When i was here last i tore my gown on a chair, and he asked me my name and address-inside of a week i got a package from Croirier's with a new evening gown in it" (47).
The significance of this quote shows how wealthy Gatsby is. He has a lot of family inherited money and does not necessarily care what he spends it on. He is just an overall nice man.
Said by Gatsby:
"I'm Gatsby. I thought you knew, old sport. I'm afraid I'm not a very good host" (52).
The significance of this quote is to show that people go to Gatsby's parties and they don't know him and he usually does not know them either.
Analysis Of The Picture
This picture is significant because it represents all the people that attend Gatsby's parties. The people that attend Gatsby's parties have no name and no distinctive features. For example there are people in this story, such as the undergraduate and Owl Eyes. They are introduced in to the story but their real names are not revealed because they are such irrelevant characters and have little significance. These characters get the title of nameless because they have little importance in the book.
Analysis.
Chapter analysis of the car wreck. In the begining of the story there is a car accident. There are a few people involved and they do not at first realize that they had even crashed. When the man finally realizes that he was in a car wreck he steps out of the car and starts to walk away. He is so careless that he was not even going to report that there had been a crash. He is a danger to himself and other people. There was a passanger in the car that was so drunk, he did not even remember who was driving the car. Also, the stupidity of the driver for walking away fromthe scene of the accident just shows how stupid and careless some people really are.
Lyrics
Gwen Stafani-Crash
Back it up, back it up You got it, you got it Put your hands up, put your hands up, put your hands up You got it, you got it
Drive back baby to me, fast in your car I'm here waiting, crash into me real hard [2x]
I wander round the room and I'm getting things ready I picture you driving, just like Mario Andretti I got the cush, Kettle One, waiting for your engine Your Grand Prix attention, it's gonna be a party
Don't forget to make a U-turn I see you left your blinker on I got it rolled and ready here to burn Meet me back at home (a-oh, a-oh)
Drive back baby to me, fast in your car I'm here waiting, crash into me real hard [2x] Driving fast in your car I've got you tracked on my radar, oh
It's just such a trip, how you're still my speed racer You got me so addicted, just like a free-baser I want you all over me like L.A.M.B. So get here A.S.A.P., it's gonna be a party
Don't forget to make a U-turn (don't forget to get here) I see you left your blinker on (you see, I want to get it on) I got it rolled and ready here to burn Meet me back at home (you know you need me so come back) Drive back baby to me, fast in your car I'm here waiting, crash into me real hard [2x]
Now you know you're qualified You're in the pole position Put it in first gear, step on the pedal and drive fast Back it up, back it up You got it, you got it Back it up, back it up You got it, you got it Put your hands up, put your hands up, put your hands up You got it, you got it Put your hands up, put your hands up, put your hands up You got it, you got it
(I'm ready for you) Drive back baby to me, fast in your car (Me and you boo) I'm here waiting, crash into me real hard (Don't make me wait too long) Drive back baby to me, fast in your car (For me and you boo) I'm here waiting, crash into me real hard
Come on baby, please hurry up, you know I'm waiting for you [4x]
these lyrics relate to when Owl-eyes drove a car in to a dich and didn't even attempting to try to drive. Then he tries to convince every one that you can get a three wheeled car out of a ditch.

Chapter 2
"The interior was unprosperous and bare; the only care visible was a dust-covered ford which crouched in a dim corner" (29).
These lyris represent the Valley of the Ashes. Since the outer part of New York is ugly and grosses and looks "trashy". This song fist how the author was decribing the Vally of Ashes as a dreey place that you didn't want to get off the train for.

Chapter 1
Said By Nick's Father:
"Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in
this world haven't had the advantages that you have had." (pg.5)
The significance of this quote is wealth. Nick had a wealthy family and attended
and graduated from Yale university. He was always "better off" compared to
others.
Said By Nick:
"i lived in west egg, the - well, the less fashionable of the two." (pg.9)
The significance of this quote is that Nick views the West egg as less fortunate than east egg because the East egg consists of "new money" as to west egg consisting of "old money". Also the fact that Nick has always been rich and living to the highest standards is also a little uneasy for Nick.
Said By Nick:
"Across the courtesy bay the white palaces of fashionable east egg glitered along the water..." (pg.10)
The Significance of this quote is that Nick believes that East egg is more of a splendid place than compared to the looks of West egg.
Said By Daisy:
"Do they miss me?" (pg.14)
The significance of this quote is to explain Daisy's self absorbtion.
Analysis
In chapter one, symbolism occurs around every corner. Colof is a significant symbolic figure in this book. The most used colors in this story are, Blue, Red and Gold.
Red is a symbolic color in this book. Red represents wealth. A few important characters that express red are Tom and Daisy. Tom and Daisy Buchannon are very wealthy. They live in East egg in a mansion like home. The home itself symbolizes wealth, and the house is filled from top to bottom with red.
Blue is another symbolic color in this book. Blue in this example is the color for sadness and gloomy things. A specific character that represents and promotes blue is Daisy. Daisy is a very unhappy person. Her husband Tom, constantly cheats on her and does not treat her properly. She is a really sad and depressed character. She is always in sort of a bad mood on the inside even if she appears to be in a good mood. She is really good at hiding away her bad feelings.
Another color used frequently throughout the book is gold. Gold is a significant color meaning rich and wealthy. A character that represents gold is Gatsby. Gatsby lives in west egg. West egg is the least fortunate of the two but Gatsby still has a lot of money. He lives alone in a mansion and inside is miraculous. The home is gorgeous and is filled with gold from ceiling to floor.
Picture Analysis
This picture represent both the east and the west eggs. That is why the picture is eggs because both islands look like eggs them self's.
Lyrics
Daniel Powter, Bad day.
Where is the moment we needed the most You kick up the leaves and the magic
is lost They tell me your blue skies fade to gray They tell me your passion's gone away And I don't need no carryin' on You stand in the line just to hit a new low You're faking a smile with the coffee you go You tell me your life's been way offlineYou're falling to pieces every time And I don't need no carryin' on...Because you had a bad day-You're taking one down-You sing a sad song just to turn it around-You say you don't know-You tell me don't lie-You work at a smile and you go for a ride-You had a bad day The camera don't lie-You're coming back down and you really don't mind-You had a bad dayYou had a bad day.
Will you need a blue sky holiday? The point is they laugh at what you say And I don't need no carryin' on You had a bad dayYou're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around You say you don't know You tell me don't lie You work at a smile and you go for a rideYou had a bad dayThe camera don't lie You're coming back down and you really don't mind You had a bad day (Oooh.. a holiday..)
Sometimes the system goes on the blink And the whole thing turns out wrong You might not make it back and you know That you could be well oh that strong And I'm not wrong (yeah...) So where is the passion when you need it the most Oh you and I You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
Cause you had a bad day You're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around You say you don't know You tell me don't lie You work at a smile and you go for a ride You had a bad day You've seen what you like And how does it feel for one more time You had a bad day You had a bad day.
The meaning of this song is to represent Daisy's sadness. Daisy is always gloomy and sad and is seems like she is never really having a good day. Daisy is very unhappy because of the surroundings she lives in. Her husband cheats on her, they have a child and he does not even act like he loves her or the child. He is stern and does not treat his wife the way a wife should be treated. Another person that this song represents is Tom. Tom is also a sad character. Tom is not happy either with him marriage or more importantly, his life. Tom cheats on Daisy blatently and she knows this. Tom feels no shame. He has a large house and loves to show it off. He just does not care.
