The significance of this quote is to show that Gatsby never took any moment for granted. He was going overseas and he was worried that he would never be able to see Daisy again. He sat there with her for a long time because he loves her and he wanted to feel his arms around her one last time before he had to go.

"They're a rotten crowd, you're worth the whole damn bunch put together" (162).

The significance of this quote is to show how much better Gatsby is than Daisy, Tom and everyone else that hangs around with them.

Said by Wilson:

"i spoke to her, -and i said 'God knows what you've been doing. You may fool me but you can't fool God'" (167).

The significance of this quote is that Wilson has distrust in Myrtle. He knew there was something suspicious about her but he didn't know exactly what it was.

Said by Nick:

"I have an idea that Gatsby himself didn't believe it would come and perhaps he no longer cared" (172).

The significance of this quote is to show that Gatsby believed that no one would ever find out what had happened. He believed that they would just forget about it just like they forget about all their other problems. Nick also tells that he thinks that Gatsby just might not have cared either way what happened to him at this point.

Analysis of the picture.

The picture i picked is to represent the sadness felt in this chapter. The sadness with Wilson and Myrtle and also the sadness with Daisy and Gatsby. Wilson loved Myrtle. Although they didnt have any kids and she didn't love him as much as he loved her, he still loved her. She cheated on him all the time and he still found in himself reasons to keep on loving her. Daisy and Gatsby also have a part in this sadness. Gatsby loves Daisy more than anything. He had based his whole life on trying to get her back and to make her see that he loves her more than anything. Daisy has an affair on her husband with Gatsby, the man who devoted his every breath to her, and she has the odasity to not even show up at his funeral. I picked this picture because i believe it fit the chapter exceptionally well.

This relates to everyone Gossiping about ever ones business and telling everyone ever thing about an thing that they deem interesting.

This statement show that Gatsby is shocked by the presences of Daisy' little girl. Is a stowed by the appearance of how the youngster looks.

Said by Nick:
“He looked at me keenly, realizing that Jordon and I must have known all along” (128).

In this statement Nick is Pointing out that Tom finally figures that Daisy is having an affair with Gatsby.

“I suppose the latest thing is to sit back and let Mr. Nobody from Nowhere make love to your wife.”

In this statement Tom is expressing how he feels about people wife's being with other men. When he himself had done just that same thing.

The significance of this quote is to show that Jay Gatsby's real name is James Gatz. James Gatz is the Gatsby's real name but he used his new name to cover up who he used to be. He always wanted to be wealthy and rich and now he is so he changed his name.

Said by Nick:

"He wanted nothing less of Daisy than that she should go to Tom and say: 'I never loved you.'...just as if it were five years ago" (116)

The significance of this quote is that Gatsby loves Daisy so much that he just wants her to be happy and be with him because it would make not only her happy, but it would make him the happiest man ever.

Said by Tom:

"Oh, yes," said Tom very gruffly polite but obviously not remembering, "so we did, i remember very well" (108).

The significane of this quote is to show that Tom is a fake person. He really did not remember meeting Gatsby, but he just pretended so that he did not look stupid.

The significance of this quote is to show that when people went to Gatsby's parties, you never really knew what the outcome was going to be.

Analysis of the picture

The picture in chapter six is to represent Dan Cody's Yacht. Dan Cody is a friend of Jay Gatsby's. He is the person that got Gatsby his start to fortune. Gatsby was an unwealthy man and all he had ever wanted was to be rich and have fortune. Finally, one day while rowing across the ocean, he came upon a yacht. This yacht happened to be Dan Cody's. He started Gatsby in his own business and that is where he took off. After that Gatsby was a rich man. He had always been wealthy after that and has always been thankful towards Dan.

This statement is referring to Gatsby's house being decorated and looking nice, elegant, and showy. The house is so lit up that it looks like a carnival because his house is so bright.

Said by Gatsby

“No body’s is coming to tea. It’s too late” Gatsby (90).

This statement shows that Gatsby is getting anxious. He is so nervous that Daisy will be late, even though it was not even her expected time yet.

Said by Nick:

“Gatsby, pale as death, with his hands plunged like weights in his coats pockets, was standing in a puddle of water glaring tragically in to my eyes” (91).

This statement is showing that Gatsby extremely nervous. All he can do is stand there like he is a statue. He is pleading for help from Nick in away, by shooting him glares.

Said by Nick:

“They had forgotten me but Daisy glanced up and held out her hand; Gatsby didn’t know me at all” (101-102).

This statement shows that when Daisy and Gatsby are left together they become so engrossed in each other that all others become invisible and are not noticed.

Analysis

In this chapter is all about focusing on what Gatsby has achieved over the years of his life. His wants Daisy to see his house because he want her to know that he i s accomplished business man. That he has raisin through the ranks of society all the way up to the top. He want Daisy to praise his house and all the expensive things he own that are too extravagant to have.

The significance of this quote is that at Jay Gatsby's parties you are always assured a great time.

The significance of this quote is to show Jordan's awareness on how fake people were acting.

"...When i was here last i tore my gown on a chair, and he asked me my name and address-inside of a week i got a package from Croirier's with a new evening gown in it" (47).

The significance of this quote shows how wealthy Gatsby is. He has a lot of family inherited money and does not necessarily care what he spends it on. He is just an overall nice man.

"I'm Gatsby. I thought you knew, old sport. I'm afraid I'm not a very good host" (52).

The significance of this quote is to show that people go to Gatsby's parties and they don't know him and he usually does not know them either.

Analysis Of The Picture

This picture is significant because it represents all the people that attend Gatsby's parties. The people that attend Gatsby's parties have no name and no distinctive features. For example there are people in this story, such as the undergraduate and Owl Eyes. They are introduced in to the story but their real names are not revealed because they are such irrelevant characters and have little significance. These characters get the title of nameless because they have little importance in the book.

Analysis.

Chapter analysis of the car wreck. In the begining of the story there is a car accident. There are a few people involved and they do not at first realize that they had even crashed. When the man finally realizes that he was in a car wreck he steps out of the car and starts to walk away. He is so careless that he was not even going to report that there had been a crash. He is a danger to himself and other people. There was a passanger in the car that was so drunk, he did not even remember who was driving the car. Also, the stupidity of the driver for walking away fromthe scene of the accident just shows how stupid and careless some people really are.

The significance of this quote is to show that people like to start rumors and talk about stuff that they do not even know is true or untrue.

The significance of this quote is to show that Daisy still loved Gatsby but felt like she had to marry Tom, even though she would be more happy with Gatsby.

Said by Nick:

"...and for a moment i was sorry that i'd ever set foot upon his over-populated lawn" (72)

The significance of this quote is to show that Nick was ashamed that he had ever been aquainted to Gatsby because he was getting himself into messy situations and he knew there would be a bad outcome.

"I put my arm around Jordan's golden shoulder and drew her toward me and asked her to dinner" (84).

The significance of this quote is to show how Nick finally got the courage to step up and ask Jordan out and confess his love for her.

Analysis of the Picture

The picture in this chapter is to symbolize the gossip that happens around the town. Throughout this book, there are many rumors and things said that are not true. There are constant lies and people turn out to be very unfaithful. Three people that are really unfaithful and tell many lies in this book are Gatsby, Tom and Jordan.

Tom is Daisy's husband but he does not deserve the title. Tom has a mistress named Myrtle and he blatently cheats on Daisy. Myrtle will call while Tom and Daisy are having dinner and Tom will have the odasity to answer the telephone call. Myrtle is also married so it does not look good for her either. Tom and Myrtle have their own apartment in the valley of ashes. That is where they hook up. This shows how Tom is unfaithful to Daisy.

Another character in this book that symbolizes gossip is Jordan. Jordan is a professional golf player and also a friend of Daisy and Tom Buchannon. She was once caught cheating at one of the play off games. She denied it, but it did really happen. Jordan has been known to lie a lot and to be unfaithful. Jordan tells Nick that she knows Gatsby. She tells him rumors that she had heard about him even though she has no idea whether or not they are true. This shows how Jordan symbolizes gossip.

The last character that symbolizes gossip is Jay Gatsby. Gatsby is a mysterious character. He had always been the talk of the parties and the newest rumor to hit the streets. He is Nick's neighbor in west egg and he is extremely rich. He bought that particular house because he can look across the lake and see Daisy and Tom's house. Gatsby once told Nick that his parents had died, which we later find out is a lie. This shows how Gatsby is a symbol of gossip.

Explaination of the Lyrics

These song lyrics are to show arrogance. People in this book talk a lot about each other and they always have some involvement in everyone else's business. This song is called just like you and the significance of it is to show that not everyone wants to be alike and be so self centered. Gatsby and Nick are examples of people who don't like to be like others. Nick is a very shy person. He is cousins with Daisy and neighbors with Gatsby.

"The Valley of ashes is bounded on one side by a small foul river..." (28).

This statement shows how the life of people who live there are "dirty" living people. Since they live in such dirty conditions, it follows them and they too turn into dirty rotten people.

"The interior was unprosperous and bare; the only care visible was a dust-covered ford which crouched in a dim corner" (29).

The significance of this quote is to explain the untidyness of Tom Buchannon's mistress. She is very unclean and it defines her also as a person.

Said by Nick:

"I have only been drunk twice in my life the second time was that afternoon" (33).

The significance of this quote is to show that Nick does not really drink very often. He was overwhelmed with what was going on that day so he decided to have a drink or two which ended up getting him drunk.

This quote said by Nick, is telling how tom broke Daisy's nose. The significance of this quote is to show that Tom is a very violent person and he would even go as far as hitting his mistress.

The picture in this chapter is a wasteland and it represents the valley of ashes. The valley of ashes is a very sad and depressing place. It is between West and East egg. This a place where people are cold and mean. The place is dirty and ashy. Here people's actions speak louder than words.

The significance of this quote is wealth. Nick had a wealthy family and attended
and graduated from Yale university. He was always "better off" compared to

The significance of this quote is that Nick views the West egg as less fortunate than east egg because the East egg consists of "new money" as to west egg consisting of "old money". Also the fact that Nick has always been rich and living to the highest standards is also a little uneasy for Nick.

The Significance of this quote is that Nick believes that East egg is more of a splendid place than compared to the looks of West egg.

Analysis

In chapter one, symbolism occurs around every corner. Colof is a significant symbolic figure in this book. The most used colors in this story are, Blue, Red and Gold.

Red is a symbolic color in this book. Red represents wealth. A few important characters that express red are Tom and Daisy. Tom and Daisy Buchannon are very wealthy. They live in East egg in a mansion like home. The home itself symbolizes wealth, and the house is filled from top to bottom with red.

Blue is another symbolic color in this book. Blue in this example is the color for sadness and gloomy things. A specific character that represents and promotes blue is Daisy. Daisy is a very unhappy person. Her husband Tom, constantly cheats on her and does not treat her properly. She is a really sad and depressed character. She is always in sort of a bad mood on the inside even if she appears to be in a good mood. She is really good at hiding away her bad feelings.

Another color used frequently throughout the book is gold. Gold is a significant color meaning rich and wealthy. A character that represents gold is Gatsby. Gatsby lives in west egg. West egg is the least fortunate of the two but Gatsby still has a lot of money. He lives alone in a mansion and inside is miraculous. The home is gorgeous and is filled with gold from ceiling to floor.
